Terms of Service

Acceptance

By creating an account or using Pukkala, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app. We may update these terms; continued use after a material change means you accept the update.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Pukkala (the App Store age rating). You must have the legal capacity to enter a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. One person, one account.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under it. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We sign you in with magic links — no passwords — so the email address you use IS the credential.

Acceptable use

Don't upload recordings of other people without their knowledge or consent. Don't use Pukkala to harass, dox, or stalk. Don't reverse-engineer the audio analysis pipeline. Don't scrape or automate against the API. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without notice.

Your content

You keep ownership of recordings, photos, food logs, comments, and profile content you create. By saving or sharing content in Pukkala, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, reproduce, analyze, and create technical derivatives from that content so we can operate, secure, improve, and promote the service. Public events may appear in the feed, public profiles, web previews, social surfaces, and marketing materials unless you delete them or make them private.

Pukkala data and analysis

Pukkala owns the app, software, analysis pipeline, classification system, Pukkala Index, acoustic feature extraction, labels, scores, AI notes we generate, aggregate statistics, de-identified datasets, and other derived outputs from use of the service. We may use those derived and aggregate outputs to run Pukkala, improve the analysis, detect abuse, publish aggregate stats, and explain or promote the product. We do not claim ownership of your raw recordings as personal content. Saved raw audio, taxonomy, food-label snapshots, reactions, and comments remain available while the event and account exist. Deletion does not require us to remove aggregate, de-identified, or already-published public outputs that no longer identify you.

AI processing

Acoustic features (numerical descriptors of sound) and food log descriptions are sent to a third-party AI provider (currently NVIDIA, on US-based infrastructure) to generate interpretation text and food-aware listening notes. We do not send raw audio, email addresses, or other directly-identifying information. NVIDIA operates under its own privacy policy and terms of service. If you don't want your data sent to NVIDIA, you can disable AI interpretation in Settings → Privacy. See our Privacy Policy for more on how this data is processed.

Pukkala Pro

Pukkala Pro is offered as a recurring subscription or one-time lifetime purchase via Apple App Store / Google Play. Billing, renewals, and refunds are handled by the platform. Cancel anytime through your platform's subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Lifetime purchases are non-refundable except where required by law.

Disclaimer

Pukkala is for entertainment and personal curiosity. The Pukkala Index, classifications, and AI interpretations are not medical or diagnostic information. Don't make health decisions based on what Pukkala tells you — talk to a doctor.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pukkala and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or content. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Termination

You can stop using Pukkala anytime. We can suspend or terminate accounts for material breach of these terms or to comply with law. Sections that should survive termination (your content license to us for residual public copies, liability caps, dispute resolution) survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris, France, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
